Sergio Rodrigues designed CARMEL in 1966 to be the iconic piece for his first international store, opened that year in California, USA. OCA was the brand and the name of the designer's store, a Brazilian symbol that aimed to expand its global presence after the immense prestige it had gained at that time. CARMEL and OCA stand out as a manifesto in America: to promote furniture with genuinely Brazilian comfort.
