Arcos Armchair
Form and Comfort
W 60 x D 68 x H 80 (cm)
- Structure: Natural or stained freijó wood
- Upholstery: Leather or fabric
Originally created to furnish the interiors of the Palácio dos Arcos — a project by Oscar Niemeyer with landscaping by Roberto Burle Marx, inaugurated in 1967 as the headquarters of Itamaraty and a true icon of Brazilian modernism. With a light structure and carefully designed lines and proportions, the Arcos Armchair preserves the essence of the original piece: a molded half-moon backrest and seat, elegant ergonomics, and chrome casters that suggest movement and practicality without sacrificing sophistication. Smaller in scale than creations such as the sumptuous Navona Armchair, the Arcos delicately expresses the continuous and circular thinking of its creator — always faithful to the idea that design must reconcile comfort, identity, and context.
