Piazza Navona is one of the most important sites of the Italian capital. It was built on the Domician Arena of the era of the Roman Empire, retaining its original oblong contour. The Embassy of Brazil in Rome is located in this beautiful address where, in 1960, Sergio Rodrigues studied the furniture of this embassy, which property had just been acquired by the Brazilian government. Sergio designed for the ambassador's office a set of sofas and armchairs with oversized armrests and matelassé upholstery with rectangular motifs that make a curious geometric play in contrast to the voluminous grandeur of this ensemble. The orthogonal structure of solid wood receives the upholstered part of the armchair and sofa and gives unity to the set of pieces created for the Pamphilj Palace.
